Manic Pixie // Dream Girl; a poem

Photo by Elia Pellegrini on Unsplash

I beg and plead
To be the cool girl.
I want to drag you away from suffering,
Take you on an adventure.
Sometimes, I dream I am mysterious…
Your personal brand of fun.
But you tell me I already am.
You keep on saying
I don’t have to change anything.
But inside I believe
I have to change everything.
Lack of self-esteem
Can make you want to lose yourself.

Buried // Stuffed; a poem

Photo by Andrew Neel on Unsplash

When I look into the mirror,
I see someone who is searching,
For answers, questions,
To guide them through their journey.
I wish I could be someone else.
A person not in pain,
Neither sad nor alone,
Who stuffs suffering in shelves,
Burying their burdens away.

Secrets // Affection; a poem

Photo by Samantha Green on Unsplash

She kissed my hand,
Said, “Goodbye,”
Because she always wanted
To see what it looked like on the other side.
I think she loved me
Or did she only want me?
Underneath sheets, behind closed doors,
Love was easy and simple.
Once we were exposed,
Affection took its toll.
Maybe some secrets
Should remain hidden.

This poem was inspired by Oscar Wilde.

Tea and Indie Songs // Shooting Stars; a poem ((Thank You))

Photo by Mohamed Nohassi on Unsplash

Let’s cherish this night.
Drink tea and listen to indie songs.
Look at the shooting stars.
We’ve never felt so high.
As long as we’re together,
We will survive
While the world falls apart.

I know this is long overdue, but I wanted to thank everyone again who has followed, subscribed, donated, and commented on my blog. Also thanks to anyone who happens to stumble upon my blog and enjoys reading my poetry. It means a lot. xo xo xo

Glass // Ghost; a poem

Photo by Steinar Engeland on Unsplash

I am the girl who lives in glass,
Waiting for her chance to shine.
Sometimes I wonder
If I can find my place,
Where I belong…
How can I search
When there are thick walls
And my cries fall on deaf ears?
I am the ghost who sits in silence
Yet inside I am screaming.
Will I truly find my happy place?

Embrace Yourself // Smile; a poem

Photo by Ava Sol on Unsplash

If you can embrace yourself
You can embrace the world.
Conquer the darkest moments
One step at a time.
When you realize your beauty…
I wish you would discover
What I envision in you.
You will soar to the highest depths.
Open yourself up to the world,
Don’t be afraid
To uncover the deepest depths of your heart.
Turn your gaze upwards.
I see a fierce bravery in your eyes,
An unforgettable smile

Forget // Remember; a poem

Photo by Tammy Gann on Unsplash

My brain is fragile.
Endless exertion,
Comfortably numb.
I try to analyze my fingertips,
Trying to grasp
Some semblance of reality.
The abyss is cold, haunting.
I don’t wish to reside there.
Every day I try to remember.
Desperately trying not to forget.

Dreams // & Reality ; a poem

Photo by McGill Library on Unsplash

As I watch the rain pour down,
Observing a blue jay from my bedroom window…
I wonder if the bird is really blue?
Are the clouds really gray?
Perhaps it is all a dream.
But what is a dream, anyway?
There are other thoughts, too…
Is reality a figment of imagination…
Or is it a part of you?

Wallflower // A Different Perspective; a poem

Photo by Syarafina Yusof on Unsplash

My voice is repeated,
Experienced,
Yet drown out the crowd.
I can’t seem to ever get too loud.
I’m not a firecracker…
You can barely hear me!
Or even see me at all…
Sometimes I prefer to live in the dark.
It’s oddly comforting,
Is this the definition of meekness?
Can I be brave if I’m quiet?
A wallflower can be just as strong.
A shrinking violet is merely growing.
Shyness can be debilitating,
But it doesn’t define you.

Physicality // Souls and Minds; a poem

Photo by Hanna Postova on Unsplash

Youth seems to pass by so quickly,
I wonder if I am truly young?
Maybe it is more of a mindset,
Rather than an age.
Perhaps it doesn’t have to define us,
Shape our lives.
Why do we cry about our blemishes?
Our weight, our height?
Can’t our bodies be a positive?
Physicality is fleeting,
Yet it defines our perception.
I hope one day,
We begin to embrace difference,
Cherish the multiplicity of appearance.
Love people for themselves,
Embrace all souls and minds.
